Antique Burr Walnut and Painted Black Ladies Bureau / Fall Front Writing Desk

A stunning lockable antique hand made burr walnut and painted fall front ladies bureau / writing desk on carved legs, dating probably from the early 1900's.  The desk is fitted internally with a writing pad, pigeon holes and a drawer and there are brass supports inside the desk which open automatically once the desk is opened. There are three drawers beneath the desk, each with the original pressed brass handles which I have finished with gilding wax. The bureau has been carefully sanded, primed and painted in Farrow & Ball's deep and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell and I have stripped and refinished the walnut veneers with a clear satin lacquer to enhance the wonderful rich colours and patterns of the natural walnut.  A fabulous addition to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.
Condition:
A real beauty, this piece is in very good condition with no major damage apart from some minors scuffs and marks which are to be expected with a piece of this age.  The writing pad is original and there are some minor marks to it and inside the drawers there are some stains and marks, which is to be expected with a piece of this age. The desk is lockable, and it opens and closes with ease.    I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish. My pieces aren't distressed or shabby chic; they will naturally distress over time with general wear and tear, like all furniture.  Please check out my 5 star reviews on Etsy and Vinterior since 2016.

    I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.

    Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):
