Antique Painted Fall Front Writing Bureau Desk in Farrow and Ball Off Black

A beautiful antique hand made oak veneered lockable fall front bureau / writing desk, probably dating to early 1900's, fully fitted with pigeon holes internally and with original stunning brass drawer handles which I have cleaned and polished by hand so they are gleaming. The writing desk is supported by brass stays inside the desk which open automatically when the writing slope is opened. The bureau has been carefully stripped and restored before being primed and painted in Farrow & Ball's deep and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell and on this piece looks stunning. I have also fitted a brand new leather writing pad to the desktop. It would be a fabulous one off piece to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.

Condition:

This piece is in excellent antique condition having had plenty of use over the years! There is no major damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with antique pieces and adds to their character. There have been some repairs over the years and there is some slight bubbling the to veneer to the top of the desk as can be seen in the photos. The desk lock is original and fully working and each of the drawers open and close with ease. I have fitted a brand new leather writing pad to the desktop. In terms of the finish I don't just slap on a coat of chalk or mineral paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish.     I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.

    Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

    Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and arranging courier. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
