Handsome Painted 1940's Gentleman's Armoire/Wardrobe in Farrow & Ball Off Black
A stunning lockable gentleman's armoire / wardrobe by Astons of Wrexham, dating probably from around 1940's. This is a lovely and light piece which is easy to transport around. Inside there is a hanging rail and externally it has the original stunning brass handle and lock escutcheon which I have cleaned and polished by hand. It has been carefully sanded, repaired and painted in Farrow and Ball's timeless and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell and would be a stylish storage addition to a bedroom or landing.
Condition:
This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. The door opens and closes with ease and the interior is in good condition and it is clean and tidy - there are just a couple of age related marks inside. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of four coats to ensure a high quality finish, and a lacquer where required for durability. My pieces aren't distressed or shabby chic; they will naturally distress over time with general wear and tear, like all furniture. Check out my five star reviews on Etsy and Vinterior since 2016.
