Handsome Painted CC41 Armoire/Wardrobe in Farrow & Ball Off Black

A stunning CC41* Gentleman's armoire / wardrobe / tallboy with full length hanging rail dating from the 1940's post war period with original brass handle which I have cleaned and polished by hand. It is well proportioned and is in very good order, with lock and key working. It has been carefully sanded, restored and hand painted externally in Farrow and Ball's timeless and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell. This piece would be a fabulous storage addition to a bedroom or landing and it's lovely and light which makes it easy to transport upstairs.

The CC41 'Two Cheeses' Utility Furniture Stamp which dates post war furniture can be found on the reverse of the wardrobe, along with the original manufacturers label.

*CC41 was the Utility Fashion and Furniture brand for strong well-designed furniture manufactured in the UK during the period 1941-1951 post World War II following a furniture shortage due to bombing, and pieces from this period are considered collectables.

Condition:

This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. I have fitted a brand new lock I with key meaning the wardrobe is easily able to be locked and unlocked. In terms of the finish I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish.
