Mid Century Painted Writing Bureau Desk by Lebus in Farrow and Ball Off Black

Description:

A beautiful elegant mid century bureau / writing desk by the renowned Harris Lebus, from 1960's with three drawers. Internally it has storage compartments along with a further small drawer, and a beautifully worn original leather writing pad with brass desk supports inside the desk which open automatically when the desk is opened. The desk is well proportioned and is in very good order with the original brass handles which I have cleaned and polished by hand (not painted over or replaced!) and the original lock and key for the writing slope also still working. It has been carefully sanded and restored and has been painted in Farrow & Ball's dark and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell. This piece would be a fabulous addition to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.

Condition:

This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. The leather writing pad is the original and is worn and full of character, with marks from times long since past.

I’m not a ‘furniture flipper’; I don’t turnover large quantities of quickly refinished pieces; I spend huge amounts of time and care and on each piece and pour parts of my soul into each item. I specialise in refinishing vintage and antique furniture and I spend hours hand picking each of my pieces locally and I don’t sell anything that I wouldn’t have in my own home. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk or mineral paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish.

    I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.

    Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

    Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

    Conditions of return

    Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and arranging courier. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

  • SHIPPING INFO

    I aim to provide a personal service as far as possible and I am pleased to offer free delivery with this piece in person via our own 'Pigeon Post' with a fully bubble wrapped and blanketed service to 100 mile radius of SY7 8QG postcode.  Delivery is to ground floor and I shall be in touch directly after your purchase to arrange a suitable delivery date. If you are located outside of my 100 mile radius, I would be delighted to arrange delivery via a third party furniture courier with a fully bubble wrapped and blanketed service within Mainland UK for a small surcharge. To avoid disappointment please contact me with your post code for an indicative quote and timeframe if you are located outside of this radius.  Third party courier service is for a one man service to ground floor and assistance is required with unloading.  Alternatively I live in Shropshire and collection can be arranged if preferred.
