Painted 1930's Gentleman's Wardrobe by Fyne Ladye in Farrow and Ball Off Black

A stunning 1930's lockable oak veneered gentleman's armoire / wardrobe / tallboy by Fyne Ladye Furniture (Henry Stone & Sons) with with beautiful reeded columns on the front corners and the stunning original handle which I have cleaned and protected with Danish oil. Inside there is a shelf and hanging rail below along with a brand new brass tie rail which I have fitted to the door. It has been carefully sanded, restored where required and professionally painted in Farrow and Ball's timeless and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell and would be a stylish storage addition to a bedroom or landing. Like most of the small/medium upmarket British furniture makers of this time, branding was not part of the business plan and pieces rarely came with a label, however the distinctive Fyne Ladye styling is clearly evident on this piece and there are the design/catalogue numbers stamped on the reverse.

Condition:

This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. It is clean and tidy inside and I have fitted a brand new brass lock with key, along with a brand new brass tie rail and brass silent door stay. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of four coats of genuine Farrow & Ball Eggshell to ensure a high quality finish, and a lacquer where required for durability. My pieces aren't distressed or shabby chic; they will naturally distress over time with general wear and tear, like all furniture.
