Painted 1940's Lebus Gentleman's Armoire/Wardrobe in Farrow and Ball Off Black

A stunning 1940's CC41 lockable oak veneered armoire / wardrobe / tallboy by Harris Lebus with beautiful carvings at the top of door. It’s a lovely and light piece which is easy to transport upstairs. Inside there are hanging rails and shelves to the left and right, along with a double hook above. Externally it has the original stunning brass handle and lock escutcheon which I have cleaned, polished and gilded by hand. The wartime CC41 (two cheeses) and Lebus trademark can be seen on the reverse of the cabinet in the photographs along with the brass Lebus badge on the inside of the door. This elegant wardrobe is well proportioned and is in very good order, with original lock and key working. It has been carefully sanded, repaired and painted in Farrow and Ball's timeless and dramatic 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell and would be a stylish storage addition to a bedroom or landing.Condition:This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. The door opens and closes with ease and I have thoroughly cleaned the inside and protected it with danish oil. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of four coats to ensure a high quality finish, and a lacquer where required for durability.
