Painted Carved Ercol Drinks Cabinet / Sideboard in Farrow and Ball Off Black

Description:

This is a handsome antique oak drinks cabinet / sideboard with beautiful hand carvings adorning the doors, made by Ercol and originally sold by W H Snout & Son Furnishers previously of Castle Gates Shrewsbury. It benefits from two drawers and shelves internally, together with the original bottle holder and glass shelf on the inside of each door. Externally I have carefully prepared, restored and lovingly painted the cabinet in Farrow and Ball's dark and dramatic Off Black' Modern Eggshell, and internally I have lined one drawer with a beautiful ebony paper, and the other I have relined with wool grey felt. Modern Eggshell is a satin 40% sheen, not a matt or chalky finish. This piece would be a stunning focal point in a dark, dramatic dining room or drawing room.

Condition:

The sideboard is in good condition for its age and there is no damage to note apart from the customary minor knocks, dents and cracks which are to be expected with antique and vintage pieces. Locks can seize and drawers may stick on occasion; these are part of the charm of antique pieces of furniture. If you're looking for a brand new pre-fabricated item in mint condition then my pieces aren't for you! If you are, however, looking for a unique, one-off antique or vintage piece with charm, character and a story to tell then you've come to the right place! I don't just slap on a bit of chalk paint and call it upcycled - each of my pieces are undergo a lengthy process of preparation, and restoration being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, woodworm treated if there are any signs of historic woodworm, and primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 3/4 coats to ensure a high quality finish. I don't distress my pieces, they will naturally distress over time with general wear and tear, like all furniture.
