Painted CC41 Lebus Fall Front Writing Bureau Desk in Farrow and Ball Downpipe
A beautiful wartime CC41 oak lockable fall front bureau / writing desk by the ever popular and well reknowned Harris Lebus dating from the period around the Second World War. With a carved top drawer and fully fitted with pigeon holes and a further small drawer internally, the ornate brass drawer handles are original and I have cleaned and polished them by hand.. The wartime CC41 (two cheeses) and Lebus logos can be seen on the reverse of the bureau in the photographs along with a further Lebus badge in the top drawer. There are brass supports inside the writing desk which open automatically when the desk is opened. The bureau has been carefully sanded, primed and painted in Farrow & Ball's timeless blue grey 'Downpipe' Modern Eggshell and on this piece looks stunning. A fabulous addition to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.
Condition:
This piece is in excellent antique condition having had plenty of use over the years! There is no major damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with antique pieces and adds to their character. The desk is solid and sturdy and the desk lock and key are original and fully working. The leather writing pad is original and is a little marked from the years of previous use and the drawers are a little stiff to open and close, however this is a feature of old drawers and I have waxed them to improve the friction. In terms of the finish I don't just slap on a coat of chalk or mineral paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 5 coats to ensure a high quality finish. I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.
Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and arranging courier. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

I aim to provide a personal service as far as possible and I am pleased to offer free delivery with this piece in person via our own 'Pigeon Post' with a fully bubble wrapped and blanketed service to 100 mile radius of SY7 8QG postcode. Delivery is to ground floor and I shall be in touch directly after your purchase to arrange a suitable delivery date. If you are located outside of my 100 mile radius, I would be delighted to arrange delivery via a third party furniture courier with a fully bubble wrapped and blanketed service within Mainland UK for a small surcharge. To avoid disappointment please contact me with your post code for an indicative quote and timeframe if you are located outside of this radius. Third party courier service is for a one man service to ground floor and assistance is required with unloading. Alternatively I live in Shropshire and collection can be arranged if preferred.
