Description:
A handsome industrial style oak topped double pedestal desk / industrial desk made by Herbert E Gibbs, probably dating from 1930's. With seven drawers; one of which is lockable, this desk is well proportioned and houses the original oak handles which I have stripped, cleaned and given a light varnish. The desk has been carefully sanded, restored and cleaned and has been hand painted externally in Farrow & Ball's timeless and daringly dark 'Downpipe' Estate Eggshell, with the desktop given a light lacquer to reveal the beautiful oak. This piece would be a fabulous addition to a study, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.
Condition:
This piece is in good vintage condition; I've restored the oak desktop and there is no damage to note apart from some faint marks and a lovely patina on the top. There has been some damage to the tops of the drawers in the past, examples of which can be seen in the photos. There are few minor dents and imperfections and some markings inside the drawers which are to be expected with the age of this vintage piece and really add to its character. The lock with key to the middle drawer is original and is in perfect locking order. The drawers are opening and closing with ease. The desk splits apart for easier transportation. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish. My pieces aren't distressed or shabby chic - they will distress naturally over time with general wear and tear.

I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.
Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

I aim to provide a personal service as far as possible and I am pleased to offer free delivery with this piece in person via our own 'Pigeon Post' with a fully blanketed service to 150 mile radius of SY7 8QG postcode. I offer delivery to ground floor only and I shall be in touch directly after your purchase to arrange a suitable delivery date. If you are located outside of my 150 mile radius, I would be delighted to arrange delivery via a third party furniture courier with a fully blanketed service to Mainland UK for a small surcharge. To avoid disappointment please contact me with your postcode or an indicative timeframe and quote. Third party courier service is for a one man service to ground floor only and assistance is required for unloading.
