Vintage Painted Mahogany Fall Front Writing Bureau in Farrow and Ball Railings

A beautiful vintage hand made mahogany lockable fall front bureau / writing desk sitting on carved cabriole feet with four drawers and fitted with further storage compartments/pigeon holes and small drawers internally. There are felted desk supports which open automatically when the desk is opened to support the leather writing slope for working on. The solid brass swan neck drawer pulls are original and I've cleaned and polished them by hand. The desk has been carefully sanded, primed and painted in Farrow & Ball's deep and dramatic 'Railings' Modern Eggshell. Railings is more blue than black, and is a softer alternative to black. The bureau desk would be a fabulous addition to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.

Condition:

This piece is in excellent antique condition having had plenty of use over the years! There is no major damage to note apart from the minor age related nicks and dents and which are to be expected with antique pieces and adds to their character. There are some small age related marks inside the drawers and pigeon holes and also on the writing pad which is original.

In terms of the finish I don't just slap on a coat of chalk or mineral paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish. I only work with genuine Farrow and Ball paints and primers to ensure richness and depth of colour which can only be found with genuine Farrow and Ball.     I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected.     Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

    Vintage and antique furniture rarely dismantle for delivery and it is the responsibility of the customer to check the dimensions against their access points in advance of purchase.  In the event that the buyer has measured incorrectly and a failed delivery occurs the full cost of third party courier charge  will be paid by the customer along with the following charges:

    Card merchant service refund and admin fee £50

    Delivery handling fee (for packaging) £15

    Damages to item if not returned in the same condition

    ​For upholstered items it is the customers responsibility to request fabric samples.

    The following items can't be returned or exchanged

    Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

    • Custom or personalised orders
    • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
    • Digital downloads
    • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
    • Items on sale

    Conditions of return

    Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and arranging courier. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

  • SHIPPING INFO

    My third party courier delivers furniture throughout Mainland England & Wales for a flat fee of £59.

    Delivery to Mainland Scotland (excluding Highlands) is charged at a flat fee of £89.

    For deliveries to the Scottish Highlands, and other remote areas, please contact me for a quote.

    All deliveries are subject to a handling fee of £15
