Vintage Painted Writing Bureau Desk on Cabriole Legs in Farrow and Ball Off Black

An elegant hand made vintage mahogany bureau / writing desk sitting on beautiful cabriole legs with three drawers. Internally it is fitted with storage compartments along with two further small drawers, and the original leather writing pad with brass desk supports inside the desk which open automatically when the desk is opened. The desk is well proportioned and is in very good order with the beautiful original solid brass handles which I have cleaned and polished by hand (not painted over or replaced!) and the original lock and key for the writing slope also still working. It has been carefully sanded and restored and has been painted in Farrow & Ball's timeless deep and dark 'Off Black' Modern Eggshell. This piece would be a fabulous addition to a home office, hallway, dining room, landing or indeed any contemporary room.

Condition:

This piece is in very good condition with no damage to note apart from the minor nicks, dents and previous repairs which are to be expected with vintage and antique pieces and adds to their character. The leather writing pad is original and although looks to have been rarely used I have cleaned and polished it to preserve it. The desk locks with the original key and the drawers open and close with ease.

I specialise in refinishing vintage and antique furniture and I spend hours hand picking each of my pieces locally and I don’t sell anything that I wouldn’t have in my own home. I don't just slap on a coat of chalk or mineral paint on my pieces and call them upcycled - each of my pieces undergoes a lengthy process of restoration and preparation before being painstakingly stripped, cleaned, restored, woodworm treated if there is any sign of historic woodworm, primed and undercoated before painting a minimum of 4 coats to ensure a high quality finish.     I do accept returns under certain circumstances, however I do not accept returns if you decide on receipt of your item that the size isn't right or doesn't suit your space, or if the colour isn't as you expected. To avoid disappointment please double check the dimensions and the colour / finish before making your purchase and please do get in touch should you require any further information or clarity.

    Cancellations are subject to a cancellation charge of £50 to cover card merchant services and admin fees. If a courier has been booked and paid for the full cost of delivery charge will be paid by the customer (courier charges are 50% subsidised by Yellow Pigeon Bespoke Furniture):

    Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and arranging courier. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
